    Coalgebraic Fuzzy geometric logic

    The paper aims to develop a framework for coalgebraic fuzzy geometric logic by adding modalities to the language of fuzzy geometric logic. Using the methods of coalgebra, the modal operators are introduced in the language of fuzzy geometric logic. To define the modal operators, we introduce a notion of fuzzy-open predicate lifting. Based on coalgebras for an endofunctor TT on the category Fuzzy-Top\textbf{Fuzzy-Top} of fuzzy topological spaces and fuzzy continuous maps, we build models for the coalgebraic fuzzy geometric logic. Bisimulations for the defined models are discussed in this work

    Selfish Herd Optimisation based fractional order cascaded controllers for AGC study

    In a modern, and complex power system (PS), robust controller is obligatory to regulate the frequency under uncertain load/parameter change of the system. In addition to this, presence of nonlinearities, load frequency control (LFC) of a Power System becomes more challenging which necessitates a suitable, and robust controller. Single stage controller does not perform immensely against aforesaid changed conditions. So, a novel non-integer/fractional order (FO) based two-stage controller incorporated with 2-degrees of freedom (2-DOF), derivative filter (N), named as 2-DOF-FOPIDN-FOPDN controller, is adopted to improve the dynamic performance of a 3-area power system. Each area of the power system consists of both non-renewable and renewable generating units. Again, to support the superior performance of 2-DOF-FOPIDN-FOPDN controller, it is compared with the result produced by PID, FOPID, and 2-DOF-PIDN-PDN controllers. The optimal design of these controllers is done by applying Selfish Herd Optimisation (SHO) technique. Further, the robustness of the 2-DOF-FOPIDN-FOPDN controller is authenticated by evaluating the system performance under parameter variation. The work is further extended to prove the supremacy of SHO algorithm over a recently published article based on pathfinder algorithm (PFA)

    EXTRACELLULAR ALKALINE PROTEASE PRODUCING HALO-ALKALITOLERANT BACTERIA ISOLATED FROM MARINE COASTS OF ODISHA

    Objective: The objective of the present study was on the isolation of alkali-tolerant bacteria from sediment samples of different coasts of Odisha, having potentiality to produce alkaline protease.Methods: About 25 sediment samples were collected and analyzed for pH and moisture contents. Then isolation of alkali-tolerants was done using Horikoshi media at 10.3 pH. Isolates were analyzed for producing alkaline protease by plate assay method both at pH 6 and 10. Effects of temperature on protease production were also determined. Besides a new method of quantification of enzymes were adapted. Along this the isolates were partially characterized and identification was done using PIBWin software.Results: About 80 isolates were initially isolated, and 11 isolates were considered based on maximal zones of clearances at alkaline pH. Maximum solubilisation index (SI) was found to be 30 mm by 3 isolates viz. AP2, AP8 and AP13 while maximum hydrolytic run percentage (HR%) was found to be 65.39% by AP3. About 45.46% isolates had capability for protease production at 37 °C and 18.18% at 57 °C while 81.82% isolates showed production at 17 °C. AP8 was the good producers of alkaline protease having SI 39 mm at pH 10 while incubating at 47 °C. Isolates were characterized partially by cultural, morphological, biochemical and physiological tests, which were belonged to the genera of Bacillus, Virgibacillus and Micrococcus. The isolated bacteria showed growth at pH ranges from 4-12 and can tolerate 12% NaCl concentrations for their growth.Conclusion: Due to the above unique features and capability to produce alkaline proteases by the marine isolates, can be used significantly in various industries.Keywords: Alkali-tolerant, Alkaline protease, Halo-tolerant, Hydrolytic run, Odisha-coas

    Comparison for accurate solutions of nonlinear Hammerstein fuzzy integral equations

    In this paper, efficient numerical techniques have been proposed to solve nonlinear Hammerstein fuzzy integral equations. The proposed methods are based on Bernsteinpolynomials and Legendre wavelets approximation. Usually, nonlinear fuzzy integral equations are very difficult to solve both analytically and numerically. The present methods applied to the integral equations is reduced to solve the system of nonlinear algebraic equations. Again, this system has been solved by Newton’s method. The numerical results obtained by present methods have been compared with those of the homotopy analysis method. Illustrative examples have been discussed to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the presented methods

Thus complete statistical designs can make animal feed research more appropriate and cost effective. Usually factorial row-column designs are used when the heterogeneity in the experimental material is in two directions and the experimenter is interested in studying the effect of two or more factors simultaneously. Attempts have been to develop the method of construction of balanced nested row column design under factorial setup. Factorial experiments are used in designs when two or more factors have same levels or different levels. The designs that are balanced symmetric factorials nested in blocks are called block designs with nested row-column balanced symmetric factorial experiments. These designs were constructed by using confounding through equation methods.Construction of confounded asymmetrical factorial experiments in row-column settings and efficiency factor of confounded effects was worked out.     A Comprehensive Survey on Different Control Strategies and Applications of Active Power Filters for Power Quality Improvement

PQ issues are raised not only in normal three-phase systems but also with the incorporation of different distributed generations (DGs), including renewable energy sources, storage systems, and other systems like diesel generators, fuel cells, etc. The prevalence of these issues comes from the non-linear features and rapid changing of power electronics devices, such as switch-mode converters for adjustable speed drives and diode or thyristor rectifiers. The wide use of these fast switching devices in the utility system leads to an increase in disturbances associated with harmonics and reactive power. The occurrence of PQ disturbances in turn creates several unwanted effects on the utility system. Therefore, many researchers are working on the enhancement of PQ using different custom power devices (CPDs). In this work, the authors highlight the significance of the PQ in the utility network, its effect, and its solution, using different CPDs, such as passive, active, and hybrid filters. Further, the authors point out several compensation strategies, including reference signal generation and gating signal strategies. In addition, this paper also presents the role of the active power filter (APF) in different DG systems. Some technical and economic considerations and future developments are also discussed in this literature. For easy reference, a volume of journals of more than 140 publications on this particular subject is reported.     Biography and Homoeopathy in Bengal: Colonial lives of a European heterodoxy

    AbstractDespite being recognized as a significant literary mode in understanding the advent of the modern self, biographies as agenrehave received relatively little attention from South Asian historians. Likewise, histories of science and healing in British India have largely ignored the colonial trajectories of those sectarian, dissenting, supposedly pseudo-sciences and medical heterodoxies that have flourished in Europe since the late eighteenth century. This article addresses these gaps in the historiography to identify biographies as a principal mode through which an incipient, ‘heterodox’ Western science like homoeopathy could consolidate and sustain itself in Bengal. In recovering the cultural history of a category that the state archives render largely invisible, this article argues that biographies are more than a mere repository of individual lives, and in fact are a veritable site of power. In bringing histories of print and publishing, histories of medicine, and histories of life writing practices together, it pursues two broad themes: first, it analyses the sociocultural strategies and networks by which scientific doctrines and concepts are translated across cultural borders. It explores the relation between medical commerce, print capital, and therapeutic knowledge to illustrate that acculturation of medical science necessarily drew upon and reinforced local constellations of class, kinship, and religion. Second, it simultaneously reflects upon the expanding genre of homoeopathic biographies published since the mid-nineteenth century: on their features, relevance, and functions, examining in particular the contemporary status of biography vis-à-vis ‘history’ in writing objective pasts.This is the accepted manuscript.     Effect of St. John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum) treatment on restraint stress-induced behavioral and biochemical alteration in mice

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>A stressful stimulus is a crucial determinant of health and disease. Antidepressants are used to manage stress and their related effects. The present study was designed to investigate the effect of St. John's Wort (<it>Hypericum perforatum</it>) in restraint stress-induced behavioral and biochemical alterations in mice.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>Animals were immobilized for a period of 6 hr. St. John's Wort (50 and 100 mg/kg) was administered 30 minutes before the animals were subjecting to acute immobilized stress. Various behavioral tests parameters for anxiety, locomotor activity and nociceptive threshold were assessed followed by biochemical assessments (malondialdehyde level, glutathione, catalase, nitrite and protein) subsequently.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>6-hr acute restraint stress caused severe anxiety like behavior, antinociception and impaired locomotor activity as compared to unstressed animals. Biochemical analyses revealed an increase in malondialdehyde, nitrites concentration, depletion of reduced glutathione and catalase activity as compared to unstressed animal brain. Five days St. John's Wort treatment in a dose of 50 mg/kg and 100 mg/kg significantly attenuated restraint stress-induced behavioral (improved locomotor activity, reduced tail flick latency and antianxiety like effect) and oxidative damage as compared to control (restraint stress).</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Present study highlights the modest activity of St. John's Wort against acute restraint stress induced modification.</p
